Romans 2

Read Romans 2 in clear, relatable modern language.

God’s Righteous Judgment

Listen, you think you can judge others, Nah, you are just playing yourself, because when you judge people, you doing the same dirt.

We know God does not play that; He judges straight and real on people doing wrong.

So, if you do the same stuff, what makes you think you are going to dodge God’s judgment,

Or are you taking God’s kindness, patience, and mercy for granted, Do not get it twisted, His kindness is supposed to lead you to change your ways.

But because your heart’s hard and you are not trying to hear it, you are just stacking up God’s anger for yourself on judgment day, when He is going to lay it all out real.

God is going to give everyone what they deserve, based on what they did.

Those who keep grinding for good, chasing honor, glory, and eternal life, God has got them.

But the ones who are selfish, do not care about the truth, and do evil, They are going to catch God’s wrath and anger.

Trouble and stress going to hit everyone who does wrong, Jews first, then everyone else.

But those who do good, God has got glory, honor, and peace for them, again, Jews first, but also everybody else.

God does not play favorites.

If you sin without knowing God’s law, you are going to perish without it. But if you sin and you know the law, you are going to get judged by that law.

It is not about just hearing the law, it is about doing what it says. That is who God is going to count as right.

Even people who do not have the law, when they naturally do what the law says, they show that it is written on their hearts.

Their conscience speaks up, either accusing or defending what they do.

All this is going to come out when God judges people’s secrets through Jesus Christ, just like I been preaching.

The Law and the Heart

Now, if you call yourself a Jew, you think you got it made because you know the law and brag about God,

You know what is right, you got schooled on the law, and you think you understand what God wants.

You think you are a guide for the blind, a light to those in the dark.

You think you can teach fools and school kids, because you got that law, which is the truth.

But here is the real question: if you are out here teaching, do you follow your own lessons, You tell people not to steal, but do you steal,

You say do not cheat on your spouse, but do you, You preach against idols, but do you rob temples,

You brag about the law, but break it and disrespect God,

That is why the Scriptures say, “God’s name gets dragged through the mud because of you all.”

Circumcision’s cool if you keep the law, but if you break it, your circumcision do not mean nothing.

So if an uncircumcised dude keeps God’s law, is not that like he has circumcised,

And the guy who is not circumcised but still follows the law will make you, a circumcised lawbreaker, look real bad.

It is not about being a Jew on the outside, or just having physical circumcision.

A real Jew is one on the inside, and real circumcision is of the heart, done by the Spirit, not just by rules. And that kinda person gets their props from God, not people.
