Psalms 16

Hope in God

1 Watch over me, God, because I run to You for safety.

2 I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord; Everything good I got comes from You.”

3 As for the saints on earth, They the real ones, in whom is all my joy.

The False Way

4 The sorrows of those who chase other gods will multiply. I am not going to pour out no drink offerings to them, And I am not even going to speak their names.

The True Way

5 Lord, You my portion, my cup; You hold my future.

6 The lines fell for me in pleasant places; I got a dope inheritance.

7 I bless the Lord, who gives me counsel; Even at night, my gut is telling me what is up.

8 I got the Lord in front of me all the time; because He is at my right hand, I am never going to be shook.

Life and Joy in God

9 So my heart is happy, and my soul celebrates; My body rests safe.

10 Because You are not going to leave my soul in the grave, And You are not going to let Your Holy One see decay.

11 You are going to show me the path of life; In Your presence is full joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forever.
