Read Psalms 132 in clear, relatable modern language.
A Prayer for God’s Presence
Lord, remember David And all his hard work,
How he swore to the Lord And made a promise to the Mighty One of Jacob:
“I will not get into my house, Or get on my bed,
I will not let my eyes sleep, Or my eyelids slumber,
Until I find a spot for the Lord, A home for the Mighty One of Jacob.
God’s Promise to Zion
Look, we heard about it in Ephrathah; We found it in the fields of Jaar.
Let us go into His home; Let us bow down at His footstool.
Get up, Lord, to Your rest, You and the box of Your strength.
Let Your priests be strapped with righteousness, And let Your faithful ones cheer.
For the sake of Your servant David, Do not turn away the face of Your chosen one.
A Promise to David and Zion
The Lord swore to David a promise, He will not turn from it: “I will put one of your own on your throne.
If your kids keep My promise And My rules that I teach them, Their kids also will sit on your throne forever.”
Because the Lord chose Zion; He wanted it for His home:
“This is My rest forever; Here I will live, because I wanted it.
I will bless its food big-time; I will fill its broke with bread.
I will strap its priests with rescue, And its faithful ones will cheer big-time.
There I will make a horn grow for David; I set up a lamp for My chosen one.
His haters I will strap with shame, But on him his crown will shine.”
