More Proverbs of Solomon

1 These are more proverbs of Solomon, copied down by the men of King Hezekiah of Judah.

2 It is God’s glory to conceal things, but a king’s glory to search them out.

3 The heavens high, the earth deep, and a king’s heart unsearchable.

4 Remove the impurities from silver, and it will shine for the silversmith.

5 Remove the wicked from the king’s court, and his throne built on righteousness.

6 Do not promote yourself in front of the king or stand among the great.

7 It is better for him to call you up than to get humiliated in front of others.

8 Do not be quick to argue; what if someone shames you in public,

9 Handle disputes privately; do not spill secrets.

10 If you do, you will ruin your name, and your rep will not come back.

11 A word spoken at the right time is like gold apples in silver settings.

12 A wise rebuke to a listening ear is like gold jewelry.

13 A faithful messenger is like cold snow during harvest, he refreshes his master.

14 A man who boasts about gifts he never gives is like clouds with no rain.

15 Patience can persuade a ruler; gentle words can break bones.

16 Find honey, Eat just enough, too much and you will puke it up.

17 Do not visit your neighbor too often, or they will get tired of you.

18 A false witness is like a war club, a sword, or a sharp arrow.

19 Trusting a traitor in tough times is like a bad tooth or a lame foot.

20 Singing songs to a heavy heart is like taking off a coat on a cold day, or pouring vinegar on soda.

21 If your enemy’s hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink.

22 You will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you.

23 The north wind brings rain; gossip brings angry looks.

24 Better to live on a roof corner than in a house with a nagging wife.

25 Good news from far away is like cold water to a thirsty soul.

26 A righteous man who gives way to the wicked is like a muddy spring or dirty well.

27 Too much honey not good, and neither is chasing your own glory.

28 A person with no self-control is like a city with broken walls.
