The Proverbs of Solomon

1 A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son brings grief to his mama.

2 Ill-gotten gains do not profit, but righteousness saves from death.

3 The Lord will not let the righteous starve, but He blocks the craving of the wicked.

4 Lazy hands make a man broke, but hard-working hands bring wealth.

5 A smart son gathers in summer, but a lazy one sleeps through harvest and brings shame.

6 Blessings crown the head of the righteous, but the mouth of the wicked hides violence.

7 The memory of the righteous stays blessed, but the name of the wicked rots.

8 The wise-hearted accept commands, but a chattering fool gets wrecked.

9 Whoever walks with integrity walks secure, but whoever twists the truth gets exposed.

10 Winking at wrong causes trouble, but a sharp rebuke brings peace.

11 The mouth of the righteous is a life fountain, but the mouth of the wicked hides violence.

12 Hatred stirs up beef, but love covers all wrongs.

13 Wisdom found on the lips of the discerning, but a rod for the back of the fool.

14 Wise people store up knowledge, but a fool’s mouth invites ruin.

15 The rich man’s wealth his fortress, but poverty wrecks the poor.

16 The wages of the righteous bring life, but the income of the wicked brings sin.

17 He who listens to correction walks the path of life, but he who ignores it goes astray.

18 Whoever hides hatred has lying lips, and whoever spreads slander is a fool.

19 Too much talk leads to sin, but the wise hold their tongue.

20 The tongue of the righteous is pure silver, but the heart of the wicked worth little.

21 The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die from lack of sense.

22 The Lord’s blessing brings wealth, without painful hustle.

23 A fool finds fun in evil, but a man of understanding finds joy in wisdom.

24 What the wicked dread will hit them, but the righteous get what they desire.

25 When the storm passes, the wicked gone, but the righteous stand firm forever.

26 Like vinegar to teeth and smoke to eyes, so is a lazy man to his boss.

27 The fear of the Lord adds life, but the years of the wicked get cut short.

28 The hope of the righteous brings joy, but the expectations of the wicked crash.

29 The Lord’s way is a stronghold for the upright, but ruin for evildoers.

30 The righteous will never be uprooted, but the wicked will not dwell in the land.

31 The mouth of the righteous flows with wisdom, but the twisted tongue gets cut off.

32 The lips of the righteous know what is right, but the mouth of the wicked twisted.
