Jude 1

Jude’s Greeting

1 “This is Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and James’s brother. I am writing to you all who have been called by God, loved by the Father, and kept safe by Jesus.”

2 “Mercy, peace, and love, may you all have it in abundance.”

A Warning About False Teachers

3 “Dear fam, I was ready to write about the salvation we all share, but I felt the need to warn you all to fight for the faith that God gave us once and for all.”

4 “Some shady people have slipped in among us. They twist God’s grace into a free pass to live wild and deny Jesus, our only Master and Lord. These people were marked for judgment a long time ago.”

5 “Let me remind you all of something, even though you already know it: The Lord saved His people out of Egypt, but later wiped out those who did not believe.”

6 “And those angels who abandoned their positions and left their homes, He locked them up in eternal chains, waiting for judgment day.”

7 “Just like Sodom, Gomorrah, and their neighboring towns, wilding out with sexual sin and unnatural desires, they are an example of what happens when God brings eternal fire.”

The Behavior of False Teachers

8 “These folks are dreamers who disrespect authority, slander celestial beings, and live reckless lives.”

9 “Even Michael the archangel did not talk crazy when he was beefing with the devil over Moses’s body. Instead, he said, ‘The Lord rebuke you!’”

10 “But these people, They talk trash about things they do not understand and act like animals, following instincts that will destroy them.”

11 “Woe to them! They have gone the way of Cain, hustled like Balaam for money, and got swallowed up in Korah’s rebellion.”

12 “These jokers are dangerous reefs at your love feasts. They hang out with no shame, feeding themselves. They are like clouds with no rain, blown around by the wind; dead trees, uprooted and fruitless.”

13 “They are like wild waves, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars doomed for eternal darkness.”

Enoch’s Prophecy

14 “Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them, saying, ‘The Lord is coming with thousands of His holy ones.’”

15 “‘He is coming to judge everyone and expose all the ungodly for their evil deeds and disrespectful words.’”

A Call to Persevere

16 “These people are grumblers, complainers, and follow their own desires. They brag about themselves and flatter others to get what they want.”

17 “But you all, remember what the apostles of Jesus said.”

18 “They warned us: ‘In the last days, there will be jokers who make fun of the truth and follow their ungodly desires.’”

19 “These people cause division, live by their instincts, and do not have the Spirit.”

20 “But you, fam, build yourselves up in your faith, pray in the Holy Spirit,”

21 “and keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for Jesus to show mercy and bring eternal life.”

22 “Be merciful to those who doubt.”

23 “Snatch others out of the fire to save them, but be cautious, hating even the clothes stained by sin.”

Doxology (Closing Praise)

24 “Now to Him who can keep you from falling and make you stand in His presence, blameless and full of joy?”

25 “to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, power, and authority, now and forever. Amen.”
