A Word to Baruch
1 This is the word Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch son of Neriah when Baruch wrote these words on a scroll at Jeremiah’s dictation in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah:
2 “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says to you, Baruch:”
3 “You said, ‘Woe is me! The LORD has added sorrow to my pain. I am worn out with groaning and find no rest.’”
God’s Answer to Baruch
4 “This is what you are to say to him: This is what the LORD says: What I have built, I am about to tear down, And what I have planted, I am about to uproot, This whole land.”
5 “And are you seeking great things for yourself, Do not seek them. For I am bringing disaster on all people,” declares the LORD. “But wherever you go, I will let you keep your life. This is My promise to you.”
