Isaiah 52

Wake Up, Zion

1 Wake up, wake up, Zion! Put on your strength. Put on your beautiful clothes, Jerusalem, holy city. No more will the uncircumcised and unclean enter you.

2 Shake the dust off yourself, rise up and sit on your throne, Jerusalem. Loosen the chains from your neck, captive daughter of Zion.

God Redeems His People

3 For this is what the Lord says: “You were sold for nothing, and without money I will buy you back.”

4 Long ago My people went down to Egypt to live there. Then Assyria oppressed them for no reason.

5 Now what do I have here,” says the Lord. “My people are taken away for nothing, those who rule them mock. My name is constantly blasphemed all day long.”

6 “So My people will know My name. They will know that it is I who speak, yes, it is I.”

Good News Proclaimed

7 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the one who brings good news. Who announces peace, brings good things, proclaims salvation, and says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”

8 Listen, your watchmen lift their voices. Together they shout for joy. With their own eyes they will see the Lord returning to Zion.

9 Burst into joy, you ruins of Jerusalem. For the Lord has comforted His people, He has redeemed Jerusalem.

10 The Lord has bared His holy arm in the sight of all nations, and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.

Leave Babylon

11 Depart, depart, go out from there! Do not touch anything unclean. Come out from her, be pure, you who carry the vessels of the Lord.

12 You will not leave in a hurry or run in fear. For the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will have your back.

The Servant Exalted

13 Look, My Servant will act wisely. He will be lifted up, exalted, and greatly honored.

14 Just as many were shocked when they saw Him. His appearance was so disfigured He did not even look human.

15 So He will sprinkle many nations. Kings will shut their mouths because of Him. What they were never told, they will see. What they never heard, they will understand.
