Isaiah 35

Read Isaiah 35 in clear, relatable modern language.

Joy and Restoration for God’s People

1 The desert and the dry land is going to burst with joy. The wilderness are going to blossom like spring flowers.

2 It will bloom with beauty and shout with happiness. The glory of Lebanon, the beauty of Carmel and Sharon, will be given to it. They will see the glory of the Lord, the majesty of our God.

3 Strengthen the weak hands and steady the shaking knees.

4 Tell those with fearful hearts, “Be strong and do not be scared! Your God is coming with vengeance, He is coming to save you.”

Healing and Renewal

5 Then the eyes of the blind will open, and the ears of the deaf will hear.

6 The lame will leap like deer, and those who could not talk will shout for joy. Water will burst out in the desert, and streams will flow through the dry ground.

7 The burning sand will turn into a pool, and the thirsty land into flowing springs. Grass, reeds, and rushes will grow where wild animals used to lie.

The Highway of Holiness

8 There will be a road there, called the Highway of Holiness. No unclean person will walk on it. It is for the ones who stay true to God, fools will not be allowed to wander on it.

9 No lion will be there, and no wild beast will show up on that road. Only the redeemed will walk there.

10 The Lord’s ransomed ones will come home singing, crowns of everlasting joy on their heads. Gladness and joy will chase them down, and sorrow and sighing will run away.
