Isaiah 25

Read Isaiah 25 in clear, relatable modern language.

Praise for God’s Victory

1 Lord, You are my God. I will lift You up and praise Your name, because You have done amazing things, plans You made long ago that came out exactly how You said they would.

2 You turned cities into rubble, fortified towns into ruins. Even the palaces of the proud are gone, never to be rebuilt.

3 That is why strong nations will respect You, and ruthless cities will fear Your name.

4 You have been a refuge for the poor, a shelter for the needy in their trouble, shade from the heat, protection from the storm, when cruel people blew through like a cold wind.

5 You quieted the noise of foreigners, like heat fading under a cloud. You shut down the song of the ruthless.

The Lord’s Feast for All Nations

6 On this mountain, the Lord of Armies will throw a feast for all peoples, rich food, the best drinks, choice meat and aged wine.

7 On this mountain, He will destroy the shroud that covers all people, the sheet spread over all nations.

8 He will swallow up death forever! The Lord God will wipe away every tear from every face. He will remove the disgrace of His people from all the earth, the Lord Himself has spoken it.

9 On that day, they will say, “Look! This is our God! We trusted Him, and He saved us. This is the Lord, we waited for Him; let us rejoice and celebrate His salvation!”

God’s Hand of Judgment and Power

10 The Lord’s hand will rest on this mountain, but Moab will be trampled down where they stand, like straw crushed in a pile of manure.

11 They will stretch out their hands to swim through it, but God will bring down their pride along with everything they built up by their own strength.

12 He will tear down the high walls of their fortress, flattened to the ground, down to the dust.
