The Family Tree of Noah’s Sons

1 Here is the rundown of Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and their kids after the flood.

The Descendants of Japheth

2 Japheth’s sons: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshek, and Tiras.

3 Gomer’s kids: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.

4 Javan’s kids: Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittites, and the Rodanites.

5 From these, the people spread out across the lands, each with their own language, family, and nation.

The Descendants of Ham

6 Ham’s sons: Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan.

7 Cush’s kids: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteka. Raamah’s kids: Sheba and Dedan.

8 Cush had a son named Nimrod, who became a big-time warrior on earth.

9 Nimrod was a mighty hunter, and people used to say, ‘Listen, like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Lord.’

10 He started building his kingdom with cities like Babylon, Uruk, Akkad, and Kalneh in Shinar.

11 From there, he went to Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah,

12 and Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah, it is a big city.

13 Egypt’s kids: the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites,

14 Pathrusites, Kasluhites (who the Philistines came from), and the Caphtorites.

15 Canaan’s kids: Sidon (his firstborn) and Heth,

16 and the Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites,

17 Hivites, Arkites, Sinites,

18 Arvadites, Zemarites, and Hamathites. Later, the Canaanite clans spread out.

19 Their land stretched from Sidon toward Gerar as far as Gaza, and east toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboyim, as far as Lasha.

20 These are Ham’s descendants by their clans, languages, lands, and nations.

The Descendants of Shem

21 Shem, Japheth’s older brother, had kids too. He is the ancestor of all the people of Eber.

22 Shem’s sons: Elam, Ashur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.

23 Aram’s kids: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Meshek.

24 Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah was the father of Eber.

25 Eber had two sons. One was named Peleg (because in his time, the earth was divided), and his brother’s name was Joktan.

26 Joktan’s kids: Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,

27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,

28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba,

29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were Joktan’s descendants.

30 Their land stretched from Mesha toward Sephar in the eastern hill country.

31 These are Shem’s descendants by their clans, languages, lands, and nations.

The Nations Spread Out

32 These are the families of Noah’s sons, grouped by their nations. From them, the nations spread out across the earth after the flood.
