Urban Word Bible
Galatians 6
Read Galatians 6 in clear, relatable modern language.
Bear One Another’s Burdens
1 Brothers and sisters, if you catch someone slipping up, you who are spiritual should help restore them gently. But watch yourself so you do not get caught up too.
2 Help carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you are living out the law of Christ.
3 If anyone thinks they are too important to help, they are just fooling themselves.
4 Everyone should check their own actions, so they can be proud of themselves without comparing to others.
5 Each person has their own load to carry.
Sowing and Reaping
6 Those who are taught the Word should share all good things with their teacher.
7 Do not fool yourself, God cannot be mocked. Whatever you plant, that is what you will harvest.
8 If you are planting selfish seeds from your flesh, you will harvest destruction. But if you plant from the Spirit, you will harvest eternal life.
9 Do not get tired of doing good, because at the right time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
10 So whenever we have the chance, let us do good to everyone, especially to our brothers and sisters in the faith.
Boast Only in the Cross
11 Check out these big letters I am using to write this with my own hand!
12 Those who want to make a good impression outwardly are pressuring you to be circumcised, just so they can dodge persecution for the cross of Christ.
13 Even they do not keep the law themselves, but they want you to be circumcised so they can brag about you.
14 But I will never brag about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Through the cross, the world is dead to me, and I am dead to the world.
15 Circumcision or not, it does not matter. What matters is being a new creation.
16 Peace and mercy to everyone who lives by this rule, to the true people of God.
17 From now on, do not mess with me, I have got the marks of Jesus on my body.
18 May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters. Amen.
