The List of Returning Exiles
1 Here go the names of the folks from the hood of Judah who bounced outta Babylon after King Nebuchadnezzar had them exiled. They were headed back home, to Jerusalem and their own cities.
2 They rolled out with the leaders: Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum, and Baanah. Now here is the roll call of families and how many came from each.
Families That Rolled Deep
3 The Parosh crew, 2,172 people

46 The sons of Hagab, Shamlai, and Hanan stepped in, keeping the temple running smooth.
47 The sons of Giddel, Gahar, and Reaiah were counted among the temple squad.
48 The sons of Rezin, Nekoda, and Gazzam were there, serving with diligence.
49 The sons of Uzza, Paseah, and Besai took their posts and did the Lord’s work.
50 The sons of Asnah, Meunim, and Nephisim came back too, committed and focused.
51 The sons of Bakbuk, Hakupha, and Harhur rolled in, ready to help restore worship.
52 The sons of Bazluth, Mehida, and Harsha showed up steady and strong.
53 The sons of Barkos, Sisera, and Temah were listed as servants of God’s house.
54 The sons of Neziah and Hatipha finished off the list, faithful and counted in.
Descendants of Solomon’s Servants
55 The sons of Solomon’s servants were counted too: the sons of Sotai, Hassophereth, and Peruda, servants who stayed loyal through generations.
56 The sons of Jaalah, Darkon, and Giddel got listed next, still tied to the king’s work from way back.
57 The sons of Shephatiah, Hattil, Pochereth-hazzebaim, and Ami were there too, descendants of royal servants, stepping back into God’s plan.
58 All the temple workers and Solomon’s servant fams, 392
Those Who Could Not Prove Where They Came From
59 Some folks from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addan, and Immer tried to claim they were Israelites, but no papers.
60 Sons of Delaiah, Tobiah, and Nekoda, 652
Some Priests Got Questioned
61 The priest lines of Hobaiah, Hakkoz, and Barzillai (who married into Barzillai’s fam and took their name).
62 Tried to find their family roots in the records, but could not. So they got disqualified from serving as priests.
63 The governor said, “Do not let them eat from the holy food till a priest comes through with the Urim and Thummim to sort this out.”
Total Headcount
64 Total folks who came back, 42,360
65 They brought 7,337 male and female slaves. Plus 200 singers.
66 They had 736 horses, 245 mules,
67 435 camels, and 6,720 donkeys.
Offerings for God’s House
68 When they pulled up to Jerusalem, some of the family leaders dropped freewill offerings to help build the LORD’s house back up.
69 They gave what they could to the treasury: 61,000 gold coins, 5,000 silver coins, And 100 priest robes.
Settling In
70 The priests, Levites, regular folks, singers, gatekeepers, and temple servants all moved into their own cities. That is how all of Israel finally made it back home.
