Ezekiel 2

Read Ezekiel 2 in clear, relatable modern language.

Sent to a Rebellious People

1 He said to me, “Son of man, stand up on your feet, and I am about to speak to you.”

2 As He spoke, the Spirit came into me and stood me on my feet, and I heard Him talking to me.

3 He said, “Son of man, I am sending you to the people of Israel, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against Me. They and their fathers have been foul toward Me right up to this very day.

4 These people are hard-headed and stubborn. I am sending you to them, and you are to say to them, ‘This is what the Lord GOD says.’

5 Whether they listen or ignore you, because they are a rebellious house, they will know a prophet has been among them.

6 And you, son of man, do not be scared of them or their words. Do not be afraid even though you are surrounded by thorns and thistles and sitting on scorpions. Do not fear what they say or be shaken by their looks, because they are a rebellious house.

7 You must speak My words to them whether they listen or not, because rebellion is all they know.

8 Now you, son of man, listen to what I am telling you. Do not rebel like that rebellious house. Open your mouth and eat what I give you.”

The Scroll Given to Ezekiel

9 Then I looked, and a hand was stretched out toward me, holding a scroll.

10 He unrolled it in front of me, and it had writing on both sides, words of mourning, grief, and warning written all over it.
