Jerusalem Like a Useless Vine
The word of the LORD came to me, saying,
“Son of man, how is the wood of the vine better than any other wood, the vine branch that is among the trees of the forest,
Can wood be taken from it to make anything useful, Can people even make a peg from it to hang something on,
Look, it is thrown into the fire for fuel. The fire burns both ends, and the middle gets charred. Is it useful for anything,
If it was not useful when it was whole, how much less will it be useful after the fire has burned it and it is scorched,
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Just like the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest that I handed over to the fire to be burned, so I will hand over the people living in Jerusalem.
I will set My face against them. Even though they escape from one fire, another fire will burn them. Then you will know that I am the LORD when I set My face against them.
I will make the land desolate because they acted unfaithfully,” declares the Lord GOD.
