The Consecration of Aaron and His Sons

1 ‘Here is how you are going to set Aaron and his sons apart as My priests: Get a young bull, two rams with no defects,’

2 ‘Some bread, cakes, and wafers made without yeast, mix them with oil.’

3 ‘Put all that in a basket and bring them along with the bull and the rams.’

4 ‘Then bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the Tabernacle and wash them up.’

5 ‘Dress Aaron in the priestly robe, the ephod, the breastplate, and the sash, tie it up so it fits right.’

6 ‘Put the turban on his head and attach the gold plate (HOLY TO THE LORD).’

7 ‘Take the anointing oil and pour it on his head to set him apart.’

8 ‘Then bring his sons and dress them in tunics.’

9 ‘Wrap them with sashes, put caps on their heads, and ordain them as My priests. This priesthood is going to be theirs forever.’

The Sin Offering (Bu’l Sacrifice)

10 ‘Bring the bull to the front of the Tabernacle. Aaron and his sons must lay their hands on its head.’

11 ‘Then, slaughter the bull before the Lord at the entrance of the Tabernacle.’

12 ‘Take some of its blood and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger. Pour the rest of the blood at the base of the altar.’

13 ‘Take the fat, liver, and kidneys, and burn them on the altar as an offering.’

14 ‘But burn the bull’s meat, skin, and guts outside the camp, it is a sin offering.’

The Burnt Offering (Ram Sacrifice)

15 ‘Take one of the rams, and Aaron and his sons must lay their hands on its head.’

16 ‘Slaughter it, collect its blood, and splash it on all sides of the altar.’

17 ‘Cut the ram into pieces, wash the inner parts and legs, and stack them on the altar with the head and fat.’

18 ‘Burn the whole thing on the altar. It is a burnt offering to the Lord, a sweet smell to Him.’

The Ordination Offering (Second Ram Sacrifice)

19 ‘Now take the second ram, and Aaron and his sons must lay their hands on its head.’

20 ‘Slaughter it, then take some blood and put it on Aaron’s right earlobe, his right thumb, and his right big toe. Do the same for his sons.’

21 ‘Sprinkle some of the blood and anointing oil on Aaron, his sons, and their robes. That sets them apart as holy.’

22 ‘Take the fat from the ram, including the tail, the fat near the liver, kidneys, and right thigh, this is the ordination offering.’

23 ‘Grab one loaf, one cake, and one wafer from the basket of bread made without yeast.’

24 ‘Put it all in Aaron and his sons’ hands and have them lift it up as a special offering to Me.’

25 ‘Then take it from them and burn it on the altar with the burnt offering, it is a pleasing aroma to the Lord.’

The Priests Eat the Offering

26 ‘Take the breast of the ram used for Aaron’s ordination, wave it before the Lord as an offering, then it is yours to eat.’

27 ‘The breast and thigh from the ordination ram belong to Aaron and his sons forever as their share from the sacrifices.’

28 ‘From now on, the Israelites must always give the priests the breast and thigh of peace offerings.’

29 ‘Aaron’s holy garments will be passed down to his sons when they become priests.’

30 ‘The next high priest must wear them for seven days while being ordained.’

31 ‘Boil the meat of the ordination ram in a holy place.’

32 ‘Aaron and his sons must eat the meat and the bread from the ordination basket.’

33 ‘Nobody else can eat it because it is holy. If any meat or bread is left until morning, burn it up.’

34 ‘Do not eat it, it is no longer holy.’

The Seven-day Ordination Process

35 ‘Repeat this ordination process for seven days, every day.’

36 ‘Each day, sacrifice a bull for sin. Purify the altar and anoint it to make it holy.’

37 ‘After seven days, the altar will be holy, and whatever touches it will be holy too.’

The Daily Sacrifices

38 ‘Every day, sacrifice two lambs, one in the morning, one at twilight.’

39 ‘One in the morning, one at twilight.’

40 ‘With each lamb, offer a grain offering, about two quarts of flour mixed with a quart of olive oil, plus a drink offering of a quart of wine.’

41 ‘Do the same in the evening as a regular burnt offering to the Lord.’

42 ‘This must be a daily offering for all generations, at the entrance of the Tabernacle where I will meet you.’

43 ‘There, I will meet with My people, and My presence will make it holy.’

44 ‘I will make the Tabernacle and the altar holy. And I will set apart Aaron and his sons to serve as My priests.’

45 ‘I will live among the Israelites and be their God.’

46 ‘They will know I am the Lord their God, the One who brought them out of Egypt to live among them. I am the Lord their God.’
