2 Corinthians 5

Our Heavenly Dwelling

1 We know that if this earthly tent we live in, our body, gets torn down, we got a house built by God, eternal in the heavens, not made by human hands.

2 Right now, we groan, because we are ready to leave this place and get into our heavenly home.

3 When we are clothed with our heavenly body, we will not be found naked.

4 We are stuck in these earthly bodies, feeling heavy, but it is not that we want to lose our body, it is that we want our new one. So what is mortal will be swallowed up by life.

5 God made us for this purpose, and He gave us the Spirit as a guarantee, like a down payment.

6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are here in the body, we are away from the Lord.

7 Because we walk by faith, not by sight.

8 We got confidence and would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

9 So whether we are here or there, we make it our goal to please Him.

10 Because we all must stand before Christ’s judgment seat to get what we deserve based on what we did while in the body, whether good or bad.

The Ministry of Reconciliation

11 Since we know what it means to fear the Lord, we try to persuade people. God knows who we are, and I hope you do too.

12 We are not tryna hype ourselves up again, but giving you something to be proud of, so you can stand up to those who take pride in appearances instead of heart.

13 If we are outta our minds, it is for God. If we are in our right minds, it is for you all.

14 Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced one died for all, so all died.

15 And He died for all, so those who live should not live for themselves but for Him who died and rose for them.

16 From now on, we do not look at anyone from a worldly point of view. Even though we once saw Christ that way, we do not see Him like that anymore.

17 If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation. The old is gone, and the new has come!

18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.

19 God was in Christ, making peace with the world, not counting their sins against them, and He gave us this message of reconciliation.

20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors, like God is making His appeal through us. We beg you all on Christ’s behalf: be reconciled to God.

21 God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so we could become the righteousness of God in Him.
