The Ark Moves in & God’s Glory Fills the Temple

1 So all the work that Solomon did for the Lord’s temple was wrapped up. And Solomon brought in the stuff his pops David had dedicated, the silver, the gold, and all the items, and put them in the treasuries of God’s temple.

2 Then Solomon gathered all the elders of Israel, all the heads of the tribes, and the leaders of the Israelite families to Jerusalem, to bring up the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant from the City of David (which is Zion).

3 And all the men of Israel gathered to the king at the festival, which was in the seventh month.

4 All the elders of Israel came, and the Levites picked up the Ark.

5 They brought up the Ark and the Tent of Meeting, and all the holy items that were in the Tent. The priests and Levites brought them up.

6 King Solomon and the whole assembly of Israel, who were gathered with him in front of the Ark, were sacrificing so many sheep and oxen, you could not even count them or keep track of them.

7 Then the priests brought the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant to its spot, in the inner sanctuary of the temple, the Most Holy Place, right under the wings of the cherubim.

8 Because the cherubim’s wings were spread out over the place where the Ark sat, covering the Ark and its poles.

9 The poles were so long that their ends could be seen from the Holy Place, in front of the inner sanctuary, but they could not be seen from outside. And they still there to this day.

10 There was nothing in the Ark except the two tablets that Moses had put there at Horeb, where the Lord made a deal with the Israelites after they bounced from Egypt.

11 And it happened, when the priests walked out of the Holy Place (for all the priests who were present had made themselves holy, without regard to their divisions),

12 And all the Levite musicians, Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, and their sons and relatives, were standing east of the altar, dressed in fine linen, with cymbals, harps, and lyres. And with them were a hundred twenty priests blowing trumpets.

13 The trumpeters and singers were in full harmony, making one sound to praise and thank the Lord. As they lifted their voices with trumpets, cymbals, and other instruments, praising the Lord, saying, “He is good; His loyal love endures forever”, the temple, the Lord’s temple, was filled with a cloud!

14 The priests could not even stand there and do their service because of the cloud, because the glory of the Lord was so heavy in God’s temple.
