David Gets Checked by the Philistines
The Philistines gathered all their troops at Aphek, and Israel was camped by the spring in Jezreel.
The Philistine bosses were rolling out with their squads, unit by unit. David and his men were in the back with Achish.
The Philistine commanders said, “Hold up, what is these Hebrews doing here,” Achish said, “That is David, the servant of Saul. He has been with me for over a year. I have not seen nothing shady from him.”
But the commanders got heated. “Send him back! He cannot go with us to the fight. What if he flips mid-battle, That is how he could win his master back.”
“Is not this the same dude they used to sing about, ‘Saul killed thousands, David tens of thousands’?”
David Gets Sent Home
So Achish called David and said, “Look man, I swear you have been solid. You got a good spirit. I was down to ride with you into this war.”
“But the other bosses do not trust it. So bounce back to Ziklag peacefully, do not give them a reason to trip.”
David said, “what did I do wrong, Why can I not fight your enemies with you, You know I am loyal.”
Achish said, “Bro, I know. You been straight like an angel. But they are not wearing with it.”
“So tomorrow morning, get up early with your guys and dip.”
So David and his men got up early and went back to the land of the Philistines. The Philistine army moved on to Jezreel.
