John 4

Read 1 John 4 in clear, relatable modern language.

Test the Spirits

“Listen, do not believe every spirit out here. Test them to see if they really from God, because fake prophets are everywhere.”

“Here is how you know God’s Spirit: Any spirit that admits Jesus came in the flesh is from God.”

“But if they do not admit that, they are not from God. That is the spirit of the antichrist, and you have heard it is coming, it is already here.”

“You all belong to God and already beat them, because the One in you is greater than the one in the world.”

“They are from the world, so they speak the world’s language, and the world listens to them.”

“But we are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; those who do not know God will not listen. That is how you tell the Spirit of truth from the spirit of lies.”

God Is Love

“Fam, let us love one another. Love comes from God. If you love, you are born of God and know Him.”

“If you do not love, you do not know God, because God is love.”

“God showed His love by sending His Son into the world so we could have life through Him.”

“Love is not about us loving God first. It is about Him loving us and sending His Son to take care of our sins.”

“If God loved us like that, we should love each other too.”

“Nobody is ever seen God, but if we love each other, God lives in us, and His love is complete in us.”

“This is how we know we live in Him: He gave us His Spirit.”

“We have seen and testify that the Father sent the Son to save the world.”

“If you confess Jesus is God’s Son, God lives in you, and you in Him.”

“We know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. If you live in love, you live in God.”

“Love is made complete in us so we can have confidence on Judgment Day, because in this world we are like Him.”

“There is no fear in love. Perfect love kicks fear out. Fear comes from punishment, and love takes that away.”

“We love because He loved us first.”

“If you say you love God but hate your brother, you are lying. How can you love God, who you cannot see, but hate your brother, who you can see?”

“God gave us this command: Whoever loves Him must also love their brother.”
